Case Study: Chase, Deer Pulls
Project: Chase
Partner: Opitome London
At Oliver Knights, we believe true bespoke design begins with a story. Chase, delivered in collaboration with Opitome London, is a perfect example of how inspiration drawn from nature can be translated into functional architectural art.
For this project, we were commissioned to create a completely bespoke joinery pull handle inspired by the organic form of a deer’s antler. The brief called for something sculptural yet refined, a statement piece that would elevate the surrounding joinery without overwhelming it.
The result is a beautifully contoured solid brass pull, carefully shaped to echo the natural curves and taper of an antler. Each handle sits against a decorative semi-circular backplate. When installed as a pair on double doors, the composition becomes truly striking: the mirrored handles form the silhouette of antlers, while the two semi-circular backplates align beneath to create a complete circle, reminiscent of a setting sun behind the antlers.
Individually, the pieces are elegant and tactile. Together, they become a focal point, a moment of quiet drama within the space.
As with all our bespoke commissions, the design was engineered from solid brass and manufactured in-house, ensuring both structural integrity and a superior quality. Careful attention was given to proportion, projection, and balance.
The Chase handle represents what we value most in bespoke collaboration: turning an idea into a tangible object that feels considered from every angle. Not simply hardware, but a crafted design feature rooted in narrative, materiality, and precision manufacturing.
If you can imagine it, we’ll explore how to make it.
